You Guys! I am getting SO anxious for our baby to get here!! I think everyone is super excited to meet him but he is still so snuggly in my belly. I am feeling more and more and pregnant by the SECOND. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating but that’s really how I feel.
I’ve been doing every little thing to induce labor naturally; walking, squatting, eating really spicy food. Maybe I should try the eggplant parmigiana at Scalini’s. I heard that they have a reputation of putting moms to labor after 48 hours.
So impatient but still am patient. Just waiting for the day my baby will come.
I’m a little nervous about going into labor, but I am 100% ready for the pain! I’ve been watching motivational birthing videos on Youtube and I know that a woman’s body is capable of doing this. Yes, we can ladies!
On to more nesting this weekend.. and more squats!
Setting up the nursery is one of the fun things you get to do with pregnancy. In fact, in the first month of finding out I was pregnant, I started looking for nursery inspiration on Pinterest right away. We hadn’t yet closed on our house until my birthday recently in April, so we didn’t actually get to start on the nursery until after we moved in. But, we managed to get it done and could not be happier with the end result!
When picking out the theme, we knew that we wanted the color palette to be neutral with no gender specific color tones in the room, because I personally get tired of color really quickly. We also knew, or I knew at least, that I wanted it to be a “Sheep” theme, but this was actually really hard to pull off when we found out that there weren’t many sheep stuff out in the stores, and did we really want a room full of sheep? Not quite. So, we ended up going for a Dreamland theme.
I also went back and forth on the furniture finish; going from all white to finally settling on espresso. We thought that the espresso would be more fitting for our little boy; a strong & masculine color. Anyways, the first item we bought for his nursery was a tee-pee from Pottery Barn Baby and R bought a little lamb rocker from Amazon for our little Mushi. I think all in all, it took us 2 weekends to complete our baby’s nursery. We are so beyond blessed because 80% of the items in this nursery were all gifts from our generous family & friends. This baby has brought us so much luck!
One of my good friends from Malaysia was here to visit me yesterday for just 24 hours because she left for New York this morning as her last stop before embarking on a four-month European backpacking trip.I haven’t seen her in years, so I was definitely glad and happy that she made the time to come and visit little old me here.
The last 24 hours felt like it went by really quickly in that we both just talked and went sight seeing all day. Crazy how I have been away from Malaysia for 11 years now, which also means I have been out of high school for that length of time. However, when we met up again after 5 or so years, it felt like we haven’t lived away from each other at all.
I picked her up from the airport around 11 AM and we went straight to Ponce City Market for lunch as we were both starving. This was my second time having food there and it was not disappointing at all! I finally got to try the Chicken Sandwich from Hop’s Chicken Place because the last time I came here with mom, I had the chicken Tikka sandwich from Botiwalla and that was delicious as well! We stayed at PCM for a a few hours at Billtong after we ate and then went for a quick walk on the Beltline in the scorching hot weather after. Here’s a list of all the food places at PCM.
After the beltline, I took her downtown to CNN center, The World of Coke and Centennial Park and I was actually impressed with it these days. Being an Atlanta local, I’ve always known the park to be pretty boring place, especially if you have already been there before. However, the city has made some new additions to it recently, from new water features and cool sculptures, or it would’ve been an old bare park. There was a bit of construction right now over there too, not sure for what exactly but I’m pretty excited to see what the new addition would be. We were at Centennial for a good bit before we left around 7 PM and to head up north to Cumming for dinner at mom’s.
After dinner, we headed back to my place and by this time it was 11:00 PM when we got home. R was still up, so he and A got to meet for the first time as well. We hung around for another hour or so before we all retreated to bed near 2 AM. I was extremely exhausted last night from being outdoors in the heat and running about all day, but I was afraid of snoring and waking R up, so I ended up waking up every hour from complete restlessness and not to mention the potty wake-up calls as well.
Anyways, even though I wish she had more time here, I’m still glad that we got to hang out even for just a day. Really excited to plan our trip back to Malaysia so I can show R and baby mushi my hometown in all its glory next!
This is it. I am officially in my ninth month of pregnancy!! All these months waiting for my bundle of joy will finally come! Here are some pics we took just casually at our house. Few more weeks till my Den comes here.
Ahh!! Help me guys! If you think you have nothing to wear most days, wait until you’re in your third trimester! Nothing fits, my shirts are getting too tight and dressing up is a battle these days. I feel SO pregnant.
I’ve been wearing camis underneath my tops because they ride up my belly very easily these days. Also, I don’t know how to go through labor because as it is, I am feeling SUPER exhausted too! Help!
One of my good friends got married to her husband in March and it was such a lovely ceremony. I loved their wedding; from the venue, the food & the people, R & I had such a blast. They chose to get married in Savannah, Georgia, because they love that city. I don’t blame them. It has that historic charm, fit for an international journalist as she rightfully is.
If you live in the Atlanta metro area, it takes about 3 hours to get to Savannah and it is perfect for a weekend getaway. I wish we stayed there longer but 2 days was better than none.
Anyways, we had yummy seafood at Sorry Charlie’s and I highly recommend the Low Country boil – SO good! We also walked around historic Savannah after dinner and ended up at a local bar listening to music and just had a great time.
The wedding was all day Saturday and it was at the Garibaldi Cafe also in historic Savannah. The venue was perfect and the food was delicious. This mama was happy.
I wore a dress that I purchased the morning of the wedding. It was from Papaya and it was exactly what I had in mind. I loved R’s suit and I knew that I wanted to match him with my burgundy lips and either a nude or blush dress. I can’t find the exact dress in their website but I would definitely wear something like this too, minus the belt. When I found this dress, it was pure luck! I was so happy! I wore my sky high Steve Madden heels and paired it with a Louis Vuitton clutch purse.
Have y’all been to Savannah yet?
I love this pic of us. I have a one framed at my desk at the office. =)
We all have that one beauty item we cannot live without and for me, the one item is foundation. I have to wear foundation every day because I just don’t like the way my skin looks without it.
When I pick my foundations, I normally buy it in full coverage because I want it to last all day. However, when someone says full coverage, there’s one thing that comes to mind and that is..weight. The full coverage foundations are normally very heavy which a lot of people hate because we no one wants to look like they wear a lot of makeup and hello shiny oily skin on a hot summer’s day!
However, over the years, I feel like the built-in technology for foundations these days are improving seeing there are a lot more brands out there that carry full coverage foundations that are becoming less and less heavy. I swear by the Dior Forever & Dior Star foundation; they are really good products. But this mama-to-be is investing her money in other beauty products now (stretch mark creams), so she has to sacrifice this little luxury for the time being.
I remember being obsessed with Mac when I was in my early twenties. So much that I got tired of it. I didn’t like their Studio Fix foundation because it made my skin appear too bright or too yellow.. it was never the right tone.
Recently though, I decided to give the Mac Studio Fix another try seeing that it is a name brand product but with a smaller price tag, and I tend to be a little biased when it comes to brand name items. However, my expectations fell in short and I am giving it only 7 stars. Although it gave me the coverage I needed, I didn’t like the fact that I had to pile on a lot of product to get the coverage I need. Also, for some reason, I still feel like the color looks a tad bit yellow for my skin tone yet again.
I find myself now using my drugstore brand foundation more often than the Mac and I actually purchased it as a “back-up” foundation. It is not a foundation but a tinted moisturizer by Sonia Kashuk and you can find it at your local Target. I REALLY like this foundation. I think that it offers the amount of coverage I need, and it is super light weight. The only downside to it is it doesn’t last as long, but that’s expected for tinted moisturizers anyway! I am giving this product 8 stars.
This is me this morning in my Sonia Kashuk tinted moisturizer. More natural looking make-up for work.
This is me going to my friend’s birthday party in the Mac Studio Fix foundation. It doesn’t look bad but it definitely isn’t light weight as I’d like it to be.
